In Open Office Calc (after importing a watch list) you can click on Edit - Links and a box will pop up showing details on all the links.
If the status appears as "automatic" for all the links then they are actively connected and that's all you can expect OO to do. Quick Update: Had a chance to try out Open Office and TOS platform on a Win8.1 (64bit) machine today.
The DDE links seem to work exactly as on my Vista machine.
After reviewing the helpful comments from my 1st post, I tried getting OO to link to TOS.
If I right click the OO icon and run as Admin AND open the spreadsheet from within OO it does link.

This is very frustrating, since OO 3.3 running as Administrator on the 8.1 works fine.
All links work & all spreadsheets open from Google Drive.
Just click on the print/export button at the top right of the page.
This copies the list to the Win clipboard, then switch to a cell in an open spreadsheet window that you want to be the top left corner of the list and hit Cntr-V (or Edit-Paste).
If you click the Edit Links item, the Edit Links dialog box will come out as figure 2 shows.
